The SECO 00072185 is an indexable square-shoulder face mill designed for high-productivity milling operations on machining centers and CNC mills. Built on the R220.69 platform, this cutter accepts 8 AP 1604 style inserts and delivers a true 0/90 degree lead angle for clean, square shoulders on workpiece edges. The 4-inch cutting diameter and 0.59-inch maximum depth of cut make it well suited for medium-pitch face milling, slotting, ramping, and helical interpolation. A 1.5-inch arbor hole provides rigid clamping to standard arbors. Insert retention uses a combined clamp and screw holding method for positive insert security under load.
This face mill is intended for use in production and job-shop environments where square-shoulder profiling and face milling are routine operations. Typical applications include helical interpolation for pocket entry, ramping at a maximum angle of 0.40 degrees, and slotting passes. The positive axial and negative radial rake geometry balances cutting efficiency with edge stability. ISO-standard tooling compatibility makes insert sourcing straightforward in most tool-crib environments. This cutter is used by machinists and toolroom professionals working with steel, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials on horizontal or vertical machining centers.
Compatible with AP 1604 insert style. Designed for use with standard 1.5-inch arbor-mount toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped to accept R220.69 series face mills. Keyway width is 0.63 inches.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before mounting or removing the cutter body. Torque the arbor nut to the machine manufacturer's specification and verify insert seating before running at speed. Inspect insert pockets and clamping screws for wear or damage each time inserts are indexed or replaced.
