The SECO 00071944 is a left-hand SVLB-style indexable turning toolholder designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. It features a neutral rake angle of 0 degrees and a -5 degree lead angle, providing a balanced cutting geometry suited to a wide range of workpiece materials. The shank measures 0.75 inches wide by 0.75 inches tall with an overall length of 4.5 inches. Insert retention is handled by a screw-lock clamping method, offering positive insert seating and reliable repeatability under continuous cutting loads. Licensed machinists and CNC setup technicians are the primary installers of this toolholder.
This toolholder is suited for external turning applications in both production and job-shop environments. The universal primary workpiece material classification makes it appropriate for use across steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous, and exotic alloy materials as indicated by material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It is commonly mounted in the turret of a CNC turning center or in the tool post of a manual lathe where left-hand cutting direction is required. The back-of-bar to cutting edge dimension is 0.875 inches, which governs centerline height setup during installation.
Accepts VB..331. series inserts with compatible insert size code VB33 and a 0.375-inch inscribed circle. Designed for use in standard square-shank tool stations accommodating a 0.75-inch by 0.75-inch shank cross-section.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and de-energize the machine and confirm the turret is locked before mounting or removing any toolholder. Confirm centerline height using the back-of-bar to cutting edge dimension of 0.875 inches before test cutting. Torque the insert clamping screw to the insert manufacturer specification using the appropriate Torx or hex key; do not over-torque. Follow the machine tool builder guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures during all tooling changes.
