The SECO 00064929 is a laydown threading insert designed for external UN thread cutting at 28 threads per inch. Built from solid carbide in the CP300 grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating, it delivers wear resistance and thermal stability in steel threading applications. The insert follows the 16ER style with a 9.53 mm inscribed circle and a thickness of 3.47 mm (0.1366 inches). The 60-degree included angle and 0.1100-inch corner radius conform to ISO standards. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC lathe operators performing precision external thread cutting on steel workpieces.
This insert is suited for single-point external threading operations on lathes and turning centers. Its right-hand orientation and UN thread standard make it a direct fit for standard unified national thread-form applications. The CP300 carbide grade with PVD TiAlN/TiN coating is optimized for P-class workpiece materials, primarily steel, including low-alloy and medium-carbon grades. It fits into compatible 16ER-style toolholders used in production and maintenance threading work across metalworking shops.
Designed for use in 16ER-style laydown threading toolholders compatible with the Snap-Tap series. Suitable for external UN thread cutting on P-class steel workpiece materials.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing inserts. Seat the insert firmly in the toolholder pocket and confirm the clamping screw torque matches the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify thread profile and pitch with a thread gauge after the first pass before committing to full production runs.
