The SECO 00064907 is a solid carbide turning insert in the SPG (flat-top) style, designed for precision material removal in CNC turning, boring, and facing operations. It carries a multilayer TiAlN and TiN PVD coating under the manufacturer grade CP200, which provides thermal resistance and edge hardness suited to demanding cutting conditions. The insert features a square shape with a 90-degree included angle, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 0.5-inch insert length, and a 1/32-inch (0.0315-inch) corner radius. The cutting edge is honed for consistent performance, and the flat-top chip breaker geometry produces a positive rake for reduced cutting forces.
This insert is primarily intended for machining stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material groups M and S), with secondary capability on steel and cast iron (ISO groups P and K). It is suited for use in production turning centers and manual lathes where clamp-style toolholders accepting SPG-series inserts are in use. Applicable operations include external and internal turning, facing, and boring. The insert covers a maximum depth of cut of 0.4409 inches and an insert length range of 0.5 to 0.6 inches.
