The SECO 00064785 is a laydown threading insert designed for internal thread cutting operations. Built from solid carbide in the micrograin grade CP500, it features a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating that extends tool life across a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert profiles a 60-degree included angle with a partial profile form and covers a threads-per-inch range of 48 to 8 TPI, equivalent to a pitch range of 0.50 to 3.00 mm. Right-hand cut geometry makes it suited for standard internal threading passes. Machining professionals and toolroom technicians working with threading toolholders in the 16NR Snap Tap series will find this insert a direct, ready-to-use consumable.
This insert is applied in internal threading operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers where a 3/8-inch inscribed circle (0.3750 inches) laydown-style insert is required. The CP500 grade with PVD coating is rated for universal workpiece material compatibility, covering ISO material groups K, M, P, and S. This makes it appropriate for threading stainless steels, carbon steels, cast irons, and high-temperature alloys in both production and job-shop environments. It is sized and styled for toolholders accepting the 16NR insert designation.
