The SECO 00064777 is a laydown threading insert designed for internal threading operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Made from solid carbide in the CP500 grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating, it cuts right-hand internal threads across a partial profile 60-degree thread form. It covers a range of 48 to 16 TPI, equivalent to a 0.50 to 1.50 mm pitch, making it suitable for a wide variety of unified and metric-compatible thread profiles. The 3/8 inch inscribed circle and 0.1366 inch thickness conform to standard 16NR insert geometry. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible Snap-Tap style toolholders.
This insert is suited for production and job-shop threading on a broad range of workpiece materials, including steels, stainless steels, cast irons, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by the universal primary workpiece material classification with ISO material codes K, M, P, and S. It is a solid choice for internal threading where consistent thread form and tool life are priorities on both light and medium-duty turning operations. The insert ships individually with a minimum order quantity of 2 units per order.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for Snap-Tap series toolholders accepting 16NR laydown threading inserts with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and standard 0.1366 inch thickness.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Ensure the insert pocket and clamping screw are clean and free of chips before torquing the clamp to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Do not use damaged or chipped inserts, as inconsistent seating will produce out-of-tolerance thread forms and risk workpiece or toolholder damage.
