The SECO 00064736 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for cutting internal Acme threads. It carries the CP500 manufacturer grade with a micrograin carbide substrate and a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating for wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert follows the 16NR style in the Snap Tap series, cuts at 8 threads per inch with a 29-degree included angle, and is suited for right-hand internal thread applications. Inscribed circle diameter is 0.375 inches and insert thickness is 0.1366 inches. Installation requires compatible Snap Tap toolholders designed for the 16NR insert style.
This insert is intended for internal Acme thread production on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. The Acme thread standard is common in lead screws, power transmission components, and jack mechanisms across industrial and manufacturing environments. This insert is installed by a machinist or tooling technician into a compatible Snap Tap toolholder; the machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before seating or replacing inserts. Use manufacturer-recommended torque for the clamping screw and inspect the insert pocket for wear or debris before installation. Do not use inserts showing edge chipping, coating delamination, or dimensional deviation from spec. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine manufacturer guidelines when operating threading cycles.
