The SECO 00059682 is a carbide replaceable tip drill from the SD100 series, designed for high-performance drilling in steel and other primary workpiece materials coded P. The drill features a solid carbide tip with a TiAlN (Titanium Aluminum Nitride) coating applied via PVD process, delivering strong wear resistance and thermal protection at the cutting zone. The 140-degree included point angle and P insert geometry are optimized for controlled chip formation. A through-coolant channel runs the length of the body, directing coolant directly to the cutting edge to reduce heat buildup and extend tip life. Licensed machinists and toolroom professionals install this drill in CNC machining centers and drill presses.
This replaceable tip drill is suited for production drilling operations in steel (ISO P material group) in both job shop and manufacturing environments. The SD100 series platform uses a modular design that allows the carbide tip to be indexed or replaced without removing the drill body from the spindle, reducing changeover time. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling in structural steel, carbon steel, and alloy steel components on horizontal and vertical machining centers.
Designed as an OEM-style replaceable tip for use with compatible SECO SD100 series drill bodies sized for a 17.46mm tip diameter.
Installation and tip changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the drill body bore and tip shank are clean and free of chips before seating the replaceable tip. Verify through-coolant connections are properly configured and coolant pressure is within the machine and toolholder specifications before initiating a cut. Follow the tool manufacturer guidelines for recommended cutting parameters for the specific workpiece material.
