The SECO 00057666 is a right-hand indexable boring bar designed for internal boring and turning operations in precision machining environments. Built with a heavy metal shank, this bar delivers the vibration damping necessary for deep-reach boring applications where chatter control is critical. The 0.5-inch shank diameter and 4.0-inch overall length (OAL) give rigidity in setups requiring access to bores with minimum diameters starting at 0.3 inches and depths up to 1.5 inches. Insert retention is accomplished via screw clamping, providing secure seating during interrupted cuts and continuous turning. This tool is suited for CNC lathe and boring mill setups where consistent insert indexing and tool life are required.
This boring bar is used in residential shop, job shop, and production machining environments on CNC lathes, manual lathes, and horizontal boring mills. The STLD toolholder style and -5-degree lead angle make it appropriate for applications where controlled entry and chip flow direction matter. The negative rake geometry and triangular insert shape support ferrous and non-ferrous material removal at moderate to aggressive feed rates. Machinists and CNC operators handling precision bore finishing or roughing work will find this bar suited to those operations.
Compatible with TD.. 1.2 triangular inserts, compatible insert size code 1.21.5, and uses insert screw CS120. Designed for STLD-style toolholder setups on right-hand boring and turning applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or indexing inserts. Ensure the shank is properly seated and clamped in the tool turret or boring head to the full clamping depth to prevent pullout under cutting loads. Follow the machine tool manufacturer torque recommendations for the insert clamping screw and turret retention hardware.
