The SECO 00057658 is a right-hand STLD indexable boring bar designed for internal turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built from steel with a 0.25-inch shank diameter and a 4-inch overall length, this bar accommodates a minimum bore diameter of 0.29 inches. It uses TD.. 1.2 triangular inserts secured by a screw-clamp holding method, delivering a negative rake angle and a -5-degree lead angle for controlled chip formation in tight bore profiles. Licensed machinists and CNC turning technicians install this toolholder in production and job-shop environments where precision internal boring at small diameters is required.
This boring bar is suited for small-bore internal turning in both light production and prototype work. The STLD toolholder style accepts TD.. 1.2 triangle inserts with a 5/32-inch inscribed circle, making it appropriate for finish and semi-finish boring passes in steel, aluminum, and similar machinable materials. The right-hand cutting direction and 4-inch overall length allow access into shallow to moderate bore depths from the tailstock side of a turning setup. Typical applications include bore sizing, counterbore finishing, and diameter cleanup on turned components.
Compatible with TD.. 1.2 triangular inserts sized to a 5/32-inch inscribed circle and 0.047-inch insert thickness, including insert screw CS120. Compatible insert size code is 1.21.5. This is a single-use toolholder style; not rated as a multi-use tool.
Installation is performed by machining technicians familiar with turning center toolpost setup and insert indexing procedures. Secure the shank fully within the toolholder block to the recommended engagement depth before tightening clamp screws. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is in a safe index position before changing inserts or repositioning the bar. Use the correct Torx or hex driver for the CS120 insert screw to avoid screw head damage during indexing.
