The SECO 00057648 is a right-hand indexable boring bar engineered for internal turning operations in precision machining applications. Built from heavy metal for rigidity and vibration damping, this boring bar accepts CD.. 1.2 diamond inserts secured by screw clamping. It carries a 0.22-inch minimum bore diameter, a 4-inch overall length, and a 3/16-inch shank diameter. The negative rake geometry and -5-degree lead angle are set up to produce controlled chip flow and consistent finish quality in tight-bore work. Machinists and tooling technicians working on CNC lathes or manual turning centers will find this bar suited to small-bore finish and semi-finish turning passes.
This boring bar is intended for internal turning on CNC or manual lathes where bore diameters start at 0.22 inches. The 3/16-inch shank fits compact tool holders common on smaller turning centers and gang-tooled lathes. The 0.152-inch center-to-cutting-edge dimension and 5/32-inch insert inscribed circle support accurate, repeatable cuts in confined bore profiles. Typical applications include finish boring of hydraulic components, valve bodies, and precision housings where bore geometry and surface finish tolerances are critical.
Designed to accept CD.. 1.2 diamond inserts with a 5/32-inch inscribed circle and 0.04-inch insert thickness, secured using insert screw CS115. Compatible insert size code is 1.2. Refer to SECO catalog number H03 SCLDR-1.2 for verified insert and tooling system pairings.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Before mounting or indexing inserts, power down and lock out the machine spindle per your facility lockout/tagout procedure. Ensure the shank is clamped securely in the tool holder with sufficient contact length to minimize overhang deflection. Do not exceed the minimum bore diameter entry of 0.22 inches, as doing so risks insert or bar damage.
