The SECO 00057647 is a left-hand SCLD indexable boring bar engineered for internal turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built from steel, it accepts CD.. 1.2 diamond inserts held in place by a screw-clamp system, delivering repeatable edge location and quick insert changes at the machine. The bar carries a minimum bore diameter of 0.265 inches and an overall length of 3 inches, making it suited for small-bore finish and semi-finish work where clearance is tight. A negative rake angle of -12 degrees and a lead angle of -5 degrees support controlled chip formation in the cut.
This boring bar is intended for production and job-shop turning environments where left-hand cutting direction is required. It fits applications where the part or tool rotates and the cutter advances into a pre-drilled or cast bore. The 0.25-inch shank diameter allows mounting in standard small-bore toolholders and quick-change turret blocks. It is installed by machinists and CNC setup technicians working with lathes that require small-bore internal turning capability.
Designed for use with CD.. 1.2 diamond indexable inserts using insert screw CS115. Compatible insert size code is 1.2 with an inscribed circle of 5/32 inch and an insert thickness of 0.04 inches. SECO catalog reference S04 SCLDL-1.2, model S04 SCLDL.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before mounting, ensure the lathe or turning center is powered down and the turret is in a safe index position. Seat the 0.25-inch shank fully in the toolholder bore and secure with appropriate clamping force per machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Verify insert seating and screw torque before taking the first cut, and confirm cutting direction matches the machine spindle rotation for left-hand operation.
