The SECO 00057644 is a right-hand SCLD indexable boring bar designed for internal turning operations in metal cutting applications. Built from steel with a 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch decimal) shank diameter and a 2.5 inch overall length, this boring bar accepts CD.. 1.2 diamond-shaped inserts held in place by a screw-clamp method. The minimum bore diameter is 0.183 inches, making it suited for tight-bore work where precise entry clearance matters. Insert geometry features a negative rake angle of -17 degrees and a lead angle of -7 degrees. This bar is intended for machinists and tool and die professionals performing turning operations on CNC lathes or manual turning equipment.
This boring bar is used in single-point internal turning applications, typically on CNC lathes, turret lathes, or manual engine lathes where small-diameter bores require precise material removal. The right-hand cutting direction and SCLD toolholder style make it compatible with standard right-hand turning setups. The compact shank and short overall length are suited for close-tolerance boring in production or job shop environments. No coolant-through capability is present, so external coolant delivery should be used when required by the workpiece material or cutting conditions.
Designed for use with CD.. 1.2 diamond-shaped indexable inserts with a 5/32 inch inscribed circle and 0.040 inch thickness, secured by insert screw CS110. Compatible insert size code is 1.2. Catalog reference number S03 SCLDR-1.2.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or indexing inserts. Secure the shank firmly in the toolholder to the depth recommended by your machine tool specifications to prevent chatter or deflection. Inspect the insert seating pocket and screw for wear or damage before each insert change.
