The SECO 00054587 is an indexable copy face mill designed for helical interpolation and ramping operations in metal cutting applications. Built on the R220.97 cutter style platform, this right-hand cutting mill accommodates three VPGX2206E-E10 inserts secured by screw clamp retention. It delivers a maximum cutting diameter of 2.0 inches (50.80 mm) with a maximum depth of cut of 0.394 inches. Through-coolant capability supports extended tool life and chip evacuation during high-speed operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shop or production environments are the primary installers and users of this tool body.
This face mill is suited for milling steel, stainless, and other ferrous materials in machining centers capable of helical interpolation and ramping cycles. The R220.97 series is commonly applied in mold and die work as well as general profile milling where a compact diameter copy mill is needed. The 0.75 inch arbor hole diameter fits standard mill arbor tooling. Maximum spindle speed is rated at 30,000 RPM, making it compatible with high-speed machining center spindles. Three-insert geometry provides balanced cutting forces at this diameter range.
Compatible inserts include VPGX2206E-E10, VPGX 220631EN-E10, and VPGX 220631FN-E06. The 0.75 inch arbor hole diameter and 0.32 inch keyway width define the toolholder interface requirements for mounting this cutter body.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and machine is in a safe, locked-out state before mounting or removing the cutter body. Verify arbor diameter, keyway dimensions, and draw-bar engagement before running. Inspect insert seating pockets and torque insert screws to the insert manufacturer specification before commencing any cut.
