The SECO 00054167 is an uncoated carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal in demanding machining applications. Manufactured to the WNMP431M1 geometry with grade 883, this insert features an 80-degree trigon shape and a sharp cutting edge that delivers high wear resistance suited to superalloys and titanium. The 1/2-inch inscribed circle and 0.0157-inch corner radius provide consistent, repeatable performance in finishing and light machining operations. With six cutting edges, it offers extended tool life per insert. It is installed in toolholders by machinists and CNC operators working in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is intended for use in turning, facing, and boring operations on superalloys, titanium, and secondary workpiece materials including steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and hardened materials. The M1 chip breaker is optimized for finishing and light machining cuts, producing controlled chip formation at lower depths of cut. The negative rake and negative side clearance geometry position this insert for stable, vibration-resistant cutting in high-precision applications where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical.
Designed for use in WNMP-M1 series toolholders compatible with ANSI insert code WNMP431 and ISO insert code WNMP080404. Suitable for clamp, pin, and lever lock holding methods. Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the toolholder secured before seating or indexing the insert. Verify the insert pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of debris before installation to ensure proper seating. Follow toolholder manufacturer torque recommendations for the clamping screw; do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert.
