The SECO 00052282 is a solid carbide milling insert in the XOMX-12 series, designed for high-performance face and shoulder milling operations. It carries the ANSI/ISO designation XOMX120408TR-D14 and is manufactured to grade F30M using micrograin carbide substrate. A PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating provides wear resistance and thermal stability across demanding cutting environments. The insert features a parallelogram shape with a positive rake angle of 1 degree and a T-Land cutting edge style, delivering controlled chip formation and consistent surface finish. Two cutting edges are available per insert, and the screw-down holding method ensures secure seating in the cutter body.
This insert is suited for milling cast iron and hard materials as primary workpiece materials, with secondary capability across steel, stainless steel, and additional hard material grades. The D14 chip breaker geometry is optimized for these applications, making the insert appropriate for production machining environments where tool life and predictable performance across material transitions are priorities. Compatible cutter series include R217.69-12 and R220.69-12. Right-hand cutting orientation applies.
Confirmed compatible cutter series: R217.69-12 and R220.69-12. ANSI and ISO designation XOMX120408TR-D14 applies. Insert size code 120408 with a 1/32-inch corner radius. Right-hand insert hand only.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians using standard torx or hex keys as specified by the cutter body manufacturer. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and all energy sources locked out before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket and torque the clamping screw to the cutter body manufacturer's specified value. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or damage before seating a new insert to prevent premature edge failure.
