The SECO 00050336 is a laydown threading insert designed for left-hand internal threading operations. It carries the 16NLG60 insert style designation and is manufactured from solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN finish for extended tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert cuts a partial profile 60-degree thread form covering a 14-8 TPI range, equivalent to a 1.75-3.00 mm pitch range per ISO standards. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a thickness of 0.1366 inches, it fits standard 16NL-series toolholders. This insert belongs to the SECO Snap-Tap series and is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of two units.
This insert is suited for internal threading on CNC lathes and turning centers in both production and job-shop environments. The partial profile geometry allows a single insert to cover a range of thread pitches without requiring a dedicated insert per pitch, making it practical for shops threading multiple thread sizes in universal material applications. The CP500 grade with PVD coating is rated for universal primary workpiece materials, including carbon steels, stainless steels, cast irons, and high-temperature alloys, as coded under the ISO K, M, P, and S material classifications.
Designed for use in 16NL-series laydown threading toolholders that accept inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 0.1366-inch thickness. Confirm toolholder pocket geometry and hand designation before installation.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician on a CNC lathe or turning center. Power down the machine and follow lockout/tagout procedures before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified seating method — do not overtighten the clamping screw. Verify insert seating and hand orientation before resuming cutting operations.
