The SECO 00050333 is a laydown threading insert designed for internal threading operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from solid carbide in the CP500 grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN finish, it handles a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. The insert follows a partial profile 60-degree thread standard and covers a thread pitch range of 48 to 8 TPI, equivalent to 0.50 to 3.00 mm pitch. The 3/8 inch inscribed circle size and 0.1366 inch thickness conform to the 16NL laydown geometry. Left-hand orientation makes it specific to left-hand internal thread applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install and index these inserts as part of routine tooling changeouts.
This insert is suited for internal threading on a wide variety of materials coded under ISO material groups K, M, P, and S, covering cast iron, stainless steel, carbon and alloy steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. It is part of the SECO Snap-Tap series, which is designed for laydown-style threading toolholders. Typical applications include threading bores on production turning machines in job shops and manufacturing environments. The partial profile geometry allows one insert to cut multiple thread pitches within its TPI range without requiring a profile change for each job.

Indexing and replacement of threading inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine in a full stop and locked-out state per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the correct torque wrench and insert screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert without cracking the carbide. Confirm left-hand orientation and correct TPI selection against the job drawing before initiating a threading pass. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
