The SECO 00050067 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the VNGP-M1 series, designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 35-degree diamond (V) insert shape with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, a 1/64 inch corner radius (0.0157 inches), and a sharp cutting edge style with the M1 chip breaker. The negative rake geometry and four available cutting edges make it a practical choice for high-productivity turning operations. This insert is manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards, carrying ISO code VNGG160404-M1 and industry standard number VNGP331F-M1.
This insert is suited for turning superalloys and titanium as its primary workpiece material (Material Grade S10, S20, S30), with secondary compatibility across stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), non-ferrous materials (N), and hardened materials (H). Typical applications include back turning, facing, profiling, and general turning operations in both production and job-shop environments. Designed for use in VNGP-style toolholders that accept a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, 3/16 inch thick diamond insert with a 0.150 inch hole diameter, clamp, pin, or lever lock holding method. Compatible with toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO VNGP insert seat standards. Verify toolholder seat geometry and insert size code 331 before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully and evenly in the toolholder pocket before tightening the clamp, pin, or lever lock mechanism — an improperly seated insert can fracture under cutting loads. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before each insert change to ensure consistent tool height and edge position.
