It carries a TiAlN/TiN PVD coating applied through a physical vapor deposition process, which improves wear resistance and tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert features a 60-degree included angle consistent with unified thread form geometry, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a thickness of 0.1366 inches. Right-hand orientation suits conventional external threading operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. This insert is part of the SECO Snap-Tap series and is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of two units.
This insert is suited for external threading on a wide variety of workpiece materials, including ferrous metals, non-ferrous alloys, heat-resistant alloys, and plastics, as indicated by the universal primary workpiece material rating and material codes K, M, N, P, and S. It is commonly used in production and job-shop turning environments where consistent thread form and dimensional accuracy are required. Insert replacement and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician with the machine in a stopped, locked-out state per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torque wrench or insert key specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the recommended cutting parameters for the workpiece material and thread pitch.
