The SECO 00046332 is a laydown threading insert designed for external UN thread cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It belongs to the Snap Tap series and is manufactured from solid carbide with a TiAlN/TiN PVD coating for extended tool life across a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert produces left-hand external UN threads at 14 threads per inch (TPI) and features a 60-degree included angle standard to Unified National thread forms. With a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and 0.1366 inch thickness, this insert fits standard 16EL-style toolholders.
This insert is suited for threading operations on CNC turning equipment in production and job-shop environments. The CP500 grade with PVD coating is rated for universal workpiece material compatibility, making it appropriate for steel, stainless, aluminum, non-ferrous, and super alloy applications. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators performing external left-hand thread cutting where Unified National thread standards are required. The ISO-compliant geometry ensures predictable thread form and repeatable insert indexing.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for 16EL-style laydown threading toolholders used in external left-hand UN thread cutting applications.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing any insert. Use the correct torx or clamp screw torque driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten the clamp screw. Verify insert seating and toolholder condition before resuming cutting operations.
