The SECO 00046044 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for internal UN thread cutting at 20 threads per inch. Part of the Snap-Tap series, it carries a CP500 manufacturer grade and features a TiAlN/TiN PVD coating for extended wear life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert uses an 11NR style with a 60-degree included angle, a 1/4 inch inscribed circle, and a thickness of 0.1181 inches. It is intended for right-hand internal threading operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Machinists and tooling technicians working in production or job-shop environments install this insert as a replaceable cutting edge in compatible Snap-Tap toolholders.
This insert is suited for internal UN thread profiling on materials classified under universal workpiece material codes K, M, N, P, and S, covering cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, steel, and heat-resistant superalloys. It fits residential, commercial, and industrial machining applications where consistent thread form and dimensional accuracy are required. The 20 TPI specification targets common UN thread sizes used across general mechanical assembly and fluid system components. Its laydown geometry allows positive seating in the toolholder pocket for repeatable positioning.
Designed for use in Snap-Tap series toolholders that accept the 11NR laydown insert style. Compatible with workpiece materials designated under universal material codes K, M, N, P, and S per the supplier specification. Verify toolholder pocket dimensions and insert seating requirements before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians on powered-off, locked-out CNC turning equipment. Ensure the toolholder pocket is clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Use the manufacturer-specified torque and clamping hardware for the Snap-Tap toolholder to prevent insert movement during cutting. Do not attempt to regrind or recoat this insert; replace it when wear limits are reached.
