The SECO 00042898 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI/ISO designation LNKT 080504PPTN-M06 in manufacturer grade F40M. This double-sided, neutral-hand insert features a rectangular shape with a 90-degree included angle and four usable cutting edges, making it a cost-effective choice for high-production face and shoulder milling. The TiAlN and TiN dual-layer PVD coating improves wear resistance and heat tolerance at the cutting edge. With a T-Land cutting edge style and a negative rake angle of 15 degrees, the insert is engineered for stable, controlled cuts in demanding materials. It is compatible with the R335.18 cutter series and uses screw-style holding. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC milling environments.
This insert is designed for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The M06 chip breaker geometry handles medium cutting conditions across a broad range of workpiece materials, making it suited for both roughing and semi-finishing passes. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and side milling operations on machining centers and CNC mills. The neutral hand orientation provides flexibility in toolpath direction. Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification — do not overtighten or undertighten the screw, as either condition can cause insert movement or breakage during a cut. Inspect the pocket seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert.
