The SECO 00042542 is an MTLN-style right-hand indexable turning toolholder designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built from steel, it features a 1 inch by 1 inch square shank and an overall length of 6 inches. The toolholder uses a negative rake angle of -5 degrees and employs a clamp-and-pin holding method to secure TN..43. series inserts with a 1/2 inch inscribed circle. It is intended for installation and setup by machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop turning environments.
This toolholder is suited for external turning across a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials, corresponding to ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S. The -5 degree lead angle and right-hand cutting direction make it appropriate for standard straight turning and facing passes. It is part of the Multiple Lock series and accepts TN..43. inserts with a compatible insert size code of TN43. Typical applications include medium to heavy roughing and finishing cuts where insert security and repeatability are critical.
Designed to accept TN..43. series indexable inserts with a compatible insert size code of TN43 and a 1/2 inch inscribed circle. Manufacturer catalog reference: MTLNR164.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Before mounting or indexing inserts, the machine spindle must be stopped and all axes must be at a safe position. The shank should be clamped securely in a tool post or turret block appropriate for a 1 inch square shank, following machine tool manufacturer torque and clamping guidelines. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for chips or wear before each insert change.
