The SECO 00041118 is a steel indexable boring bar designed for precision internal boring and turning operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. Built to the MVLN toolholder style, it accepts VNMG 332 diamond-shaped inserts held in place by a pin-and-clamp system. The bar features a right-hand cutting direction, a negative rake angle of -12 degrees, and a -5 lead angle, making it well suited for aggressive material removal with controlled chip flow. The shank diameter is 1.5 inches and the overall length is 14.795 inches, providing the reach and rigidity needed for deep-bore applications. Coolant-through capability supports extended tool life in demanding cutting conditions.
This boring bar is intended for shops and machinists performing internal diameter turning and boring on medium to large workpieces. The 2.25-inch minimum bore diameter and 1.5-inch shank make it a fit for heavy-duty production turning where stability and insert security are priorities. Applicable cutting tasks include roughing and semi-finishing passes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The MVLN configuration is a common toolholder style used on manual and CNC lathes in both job-shop and production environments.
Designed for use with VNMG 332 indexable inserts. The toolholder style is MVLN with a compatible insert size code of 33 and insert thickness of 3/16 inch. This bar is a single-application tool and is not designated as a multi-use holder across insert families.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank firmly in a boring bar holder or turret with the appropriate clamping torque per the machine manufacturer's specifications before operation. Ensure all machine power and spindle motion are fully stopped before changing inserts or adjusting the bar position. Verify coolant-through passages are clear and connected to the machine's coolant supply before initiating a cutting cycle.
