The SECO 00040535 is a TNMG 432-M5 indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide with a multilayer CVD coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN. Rated to manufacturer grade TP40 with material grades P40, M35, and M40, it is engineered for machining steel and stainless steel in general turning applications. The insert features a triangular shape with a 60-degree included angle, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 0.0315-inch corner radius, and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. With 6 cutting edges per insert and a neutral hand orientation, it delivers consistent performance in production turning environments. Installed by machinists and tooling technicians on CNC and manual lathes.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, and back turning operations on steel and stainless steel workpieces. It is designed for use in holders accepting the TNMG insert style with clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. The M5 chip breaker geometry supports a maximum depth of cut up to 0.7874 inches across a length range of 0.7000 to 10.0000 inches, making it appropriate for both light finishing and moderate roughing passes on ferrous materials in job shop and production environments.
Designed for use in TNMG-style toolholders accepting inserts with a 0.2028-inch hole diameter and clamp, pin, or lever lock retention. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards; ISO designation TNMG220408-M5, industry standard number TNMG432-M5.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is properly seated before indexing or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench or clamping screw driver per the toolholder manufacturer's specifications to secure the insert. Inspect the seating pocket and chip breaker contact surfaces for debris before installation to avoid insert rocking or premature edge failure.
