The SECO 00039966 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying manufacturer part number SEMX 09T3AFTN-M08 in grade F40M. It is a square-shaped, single-sided, neutral-hand insert designed for use in indexable milling cutters on CNC machining centers and manual mills. The insert features a TiAlN and TiN PVD coating over a fine-grain carbide substrate, providing thermal resistance and edge retention during interrupted and continuous cuts. With four usable cutting edges, a T-Land cutting edge style, and a 0-degree rake angle, it delivers controlled chip formation across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. A 0.1378-inch center hole accepts standard screw clamping.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium in both roughing and semi-finishing operations. The M08 chip breaker geometry targets medium-duty applications where controlled chip evacuation matters, particularly in tight-tolerance pockets, shoulders, and face milling passes. It is appropriate for production shops, job shops, and maintenance machining environments where consistent tool life and predictable edge wear are required. The insert is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Compatible with cutter series R217.53-09 and R220.53-09 per supplier specifications. Conforms to ANSI and ISO code SEMX09T3AFTN-M08. Insert size code 09T3 with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician using the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the insert screw to the cutter body specification. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket seat and screw threads for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Do not mix inserts of different grades or geometries within the same cutter body.
