The SECO 00035408 is a solid carbide milling insert in the VPGX-22 series, identified by ANSI and ISO code VPGX220616ER-E10. It features a 35-degree diamond shape with a positive rake angle of 25 degrees and a bright, uncoated surface finish using a micrograin carbide substrate. The H25 manufacturer grade positions this insert for high-performance milling in non-ferrous metals and superalloys. With two cutting edges, a right-hand orientation, and a honed cutting edge style, it is designed for precision stock removal where sharp, free-cutting geometry is critical. The insert is held in place by a screw-type clamping method.
This insert is suited for milling operations on non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, brass, and copper, as well as superalloys and titanium. The E10 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation at the elevated surface speeds typical of these materials. It is compatible with the R217.97-V22 and R220.97-V22 cutter series. Typical applications include face milling and shoulder milling in aerospace, automotive, and precision machining environments where workpiece material integrity and tight tolerances are priorities. The uncoated micrograin substrate minimizes built-up edge on gummy non-ferrous materials.

Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians using the appropriate Torx or hex key for the insert clamping screw specified by the cutter body manufacturer. The spindle must be fully stopped and the machine locked out before seating or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before installing a new insert. Do not exceed the cutter body manufacturer recommended speed and feed parameters for this insert grade and geometry.
