The SECO 00034042 is a carbide threading insert designed for precision thread cutting on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Manufactured to the LCGN1603-A60 geometry and graded CP500 with a PVD coating process, this insert handles both internal and external thread forms across a pitch range of 0.508 to 1.49 mm, equivalent to 48 to 16 TPI. The 60-degree included angle suits unified and metric V-thread profiles. Machining professionals and toolroom operators install this insert when consistent thread quality and tool life are required across production runs.
This insert is suited for threading operations in general metalworking, aerospace component machining, and high-volume production environments. The MDT series designation places it in a family of threading toolholders using the LCGN insert style. The FG chipbreaker geometry assists with chip control during both internal bore threading and external diameter threading. Neutral hand orientation allows flexible setup in right- or left-hand tooling configurations depending on the application.
Designed for use with MDT series threading toolholders accepting the LCGN insert style in size 1603. No additional specific model or system compatibility data was provided in the product input.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before clamping. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamping screw, and confirm insert seating is flush before resuming cutting operations.
