The SECO 00034028 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert designed for precision grooving and turning operations. Built to the LCGA insert style with a neutral hand orientation, this insert features a CP500 manufacturer grade micrograin carbide substrate with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating for extended tool life and heat resistance. The double-ended design maximizes usable cutting edges per insert. It is used by machinists and toolroom professionals working on CNC lathes and turning centers where tight tolerances and consistent chip control are required.
This insert fits applications within the MDT (Multi-Directional Turning) series tooling system. The FG chipbreaker geometry is suited for finishing and light-to-medium turning passes across a range of workpiece materials. With a corner radius of 0.006 inches and a cutting height of 0.157 inches, the insert is sized for fine detail work and controlled depth-of-cut operations. It is appropriate for shops running production turning where insert consistency and repeatable geometry matter across tool changes.
Designed for use with SECO MDT series multi-directional turning toolholders that accept LCGA-style inserts. Confirm toolholder pocket geometry and lock ring size of 0.079 inches before installation.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Ensure the insert pocket is clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping torque for the lock ring.
