The SECO 00033020 is a solid carbide ball nose milling insert engineered for high-performance milling operations in ferrous and exotic workpiece materials. Carrying the manufacturer grade F40M and coated with TiAlN and TiN via a PVD process, this insert is built for wear resistance and thermal stability under demanding cutting conditions. It features a positive rake angle of 11 degrees, a honed cutting edge, and two cutting edges per insert. The chip breaker designation is ME05, suited for controlled chip formation across a range of depths. At 0.1516 inches thick and 0.3224 inches wide, it is a compact, right-hand single-sided insert held in place by screw clamping.
This insert is designed for use in milling cutters from the R218.20-0.750 cutter series. It is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. Typical applications include profiling and 3D contouring passes in both roughing and semi-finishing contexts. The maximum depth of cut reaches 0.6690 inches, making it applicable to moderate stock-removal passes on CNC machining centers. Installation is typically performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians following standard toolroom practices.
Compatible with the R218.20-0.750 cutter series as specified by the manufacturer. Insert size code is 0.375ER and the ANSI and ISO codes are both listed as 218.20-0.375ER-ME05. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or replenishment insert for toolholders in the 218.20-0.375 series.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC toolroom technicians. Ensure the cutter body is removed from the spindle and the machine is locked out before replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
