The SECO 00030451 is a solid carbide ball nose milling insert designed for use in rotating milling cutters on CNC machining centers and milling machines. Manufactured in the 218.20-125ER-M07 insert style with the F40M fine-grain carbide grade, this insert features a TiAlN and TiN PVD coating that extends tool life when cutting ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. The positive rake geometry and honed cutting edge reduce cutting forces and improve surface finish. With two cutting edges and a right-hand orientation, it is a single-sided insert held in place by a screw-type clamping method. Installation and changeover are performed by machinists or tooling technicians during planned insert indexing intervals.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The M07 chip breaker geometry and positive 1-degree rake angle support stable cutting in both roughing and semi-finishing operations. The ball nose shape makes it appropriate for profiling, contouring, and 3D surface milling applications across aerospace, general machining, and die-mold work. It is compatible with the R218.20-25 and R218.20-01.00 cutter series bodies as specified by the manufacturer.
Compatible with the R218.20-25 and R218.20-01.00 cutter series bodies. Insert size code 125ER. ANSI and ISO code 218.20-125ER-M07.
Insert changeover should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in an energy-isolated state per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the screw clamp to the cutter body pocket without over-torquing the retention screw. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface for chips or debris before seating the replacement insert. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping the cutting edges prior to use.
