The SECO 00030448 is a solid carbide ball nose milling insert designed for use in rotating milling cutters on CNC machining centers and milling machines. Manufactured to insert style 218.20-125ER-ME07 with an F40M fine-grain carbide grade, this insert carries a dual-layer TiAlN and TiN PVD coating for extended tool life across demanding applications. It features two cutting edges, a positive rake angle of 11 degrees, and a honed cutting edge style that reduces micro-chipping on entry. The chip breaker designation is ME07. Intended for use by machinists and tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. Primary workpiece material codes are P, K, and S, with secondary coverage for K and N material groups per ISO classification. The positive rake geometry and PVD coating make it effective for both roughing and semi-finishing passes in materials that generate high cutting temperatures. It is a single-sided, right-hand insert held in place by a screw-type clamping method.
Designed for use with SECO cutter series R218.20-25 and R218.20-01.00. Conforms to ANSI and ISO code 218.20-125ER-ME07. Verify cutter body seat geometry and insert pocket size before installation.
Installation is performed by tooling technicians or machinists using a torx or hex key appropriate to the cutter body screw specification. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before placing the new insert, as contaminated seats cause premature edge failure. Follow the cutter manufacturer's clamping torque guidance for the screw-type holding method.
