The SECO 00029834 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert designed for precision turning and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to LCMF style geometry with a neutral hand orientation, this insert carries a TiAlN/TiN coating applied via PVD process, which provides wear resistance and extended tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert measures 0.630 inches in length with a cutting height of 0.177 inches, a maximum cutting width of 0.157 inches (4.00 mm), and a corner radius of 0.016 inches. It runs on a micrograin carbide substrate under manufacturer grade CP500, and features an MC chipbreaker geometry suited for controlled chip formation in multi-directional cutting paths. This insert is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces.
The 00029834 is part of SECO's MDT series, engineered for multi-directional turning applications where the tool must engage the workpiece in multiple feed directions without an insert change. Typical use cases include profiling, axial and radial grooving, and turning on both conventional and live-tooling setups. The insert carries primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, making it applicable across hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous alloys, carbon and alloy steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. It is a double-ended insert, providing two usable cutting edges per piece.

Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the machine tool manufacturer's torque and clamping specifications for LCMF-style pockets. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket for chips, wear, or debris before seating the new insert. Do not use damaged or chipped inserts, as this can cause unpredictable tool failure and workpiece damage.
