The SECO 00029832 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert in the MDT Series, designed for grooving and turning operations where tool paths change direction during the cut. It carries a CP500 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating, providing wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of workpiece materials. The insert measures 0.118 inches maximum cutting width, 0.177 inches cutting height, and 0.016 inches corner radius. The LCMF160304-0300-MC style designation with a neutral hand and MC chipbreaker makes it suitable for medium-duty finishing and light roughing passes. Machining professionals and toolroom technicians are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is engineered for multi-directional turning applications where both axial and radial cutting forces are encountered. The double-ended configuration extends usable insert life per holder. Primary workpiece material codes listed include H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast iron, stainless alloys, non-ferrous materials, carbon and alloy steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. The MDT Series is well suited for CNC lathes and turning centers handling complex profiles, grooving, and contour turning in production and job shop environments.
Designed for use in MDT Series multi-directional turning toolholders accepting LCMF160304 style inserts. Compatible workpiece material codes include H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer. Confirm holder bore and clamping system match the LCMF insert style before installation.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician with the machine fully stopped and the spindle locked out. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamping screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert securely without over-torquing. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or contamination before seating a new insert. Minimum order quantity for this insert is 10 pieces; plan inventory accordingly for production tooling requirements.
