The SECO 00023605 is a solid carbide trigon milling insert in grade F40M, designed for indexable face and profile milling operations. It carries a dual PVD coating of TiAlN and TiN applied over a fine-grain carbide substrate, delivering hard-wearing performance across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert features a positive rake geometry with a T-Land cutting edge style and a neutral hand orientation. With three usable cutting edges per insert and a maximum depth of cut of 0.079 inches, it balances economy with consistent edge life in demanding milling applications. Installation is via screw-holding method.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium in both roughing and semi-finishing passes. It conforms to ISO standard geometry code 218.19-160T-04-M08 with chip breaker designation M08, making it appropriate for a range of CNC milling setups in job shop, production, and aerospace-adjacent environments where material versatility and edge consistency are priorities.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R218.19-32, R217.21-R160, and R220.21-R160 per manufacturer data. Insert conforms to ANSI and ISO code 218.19-160T-04-M08 within the 218.19-160 series.
Indexable milling inserts are seated and secured by a clamping screw; use the correct torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer to avoid under- or over-torquing the screw. Power down and lock out the spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket seat and screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Handle carbide inserts with care — edges are brittle and chip under impact.
