The SECO 00023479 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling applications requiring a controlled edge radius and high surface finish. Built to JD640 series specifications, it features a 6 mm diameter with a 0.50 mm corner radius and a 4-flute, right-hand spiral configuration. The diamond coating provides exceptional wear resistance, making this tool well suited for machining abrasive and non-ferrous materials. With a 10 mm length of cut and extended reach design, the 00023479 handles pocketing, profiling, and contouring passes where tool rigidity and edge integrity are critical. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary users.
This end mill is applied in high-precision CNC milling operations, particularly in toolrooms, mold shops, and production environments working with abrasive composites, graphite, aluminum alloys, and similar non-ferrous or non-metallic materials. The diamond coating is specifically effective in applications where standard carbide coatings wear prematurely. The extended reach neck at 40 mm allows access to deeper features without sacrificing concentricity. The centercutting geometry supports plunge entry. Single-end construction is standard for this series.
Designed as an OEM-style cutting tool for use in standard CNC milling machines and machining centers accepting a 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank with h5 tolerance.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by qualified machinists with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use a clean, properly sized collet or toolholder matched to the 6 mm shank diameter to ensure accurate runout; maximum TIR for this tool is 0.01 mm. Verify holder clamping torque against toolholder manufacturer specifications before initiating a cut. Inspect the corner radius and cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, as diamond-coated carbide is brittle and sensitive to improper handling.
