Manufactured to the LCMF insert style with a neutral hand orientation, it carries a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating over a micrograin solid carbide substrate in the CP500 grade. The cutting geometry features a 0.187 inch maximum cutting width, 0.177 inch cutting height, and a 0.5 mm corner radius, making it well-suited for controlled material removal in applications where directional flexibility is required. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers of this insert type.
This insert is applicable to turning centers and lathes handling a broad spectrum of workpiece material categories, including hardened materials (H), cast iron (K), stainless steel (M), non-ferrous materials (N), steel (P), and heat-resistant superalloys (S). The MDT series designation indicates compatibility with multi-directional turning toolholders that use a clamp-style insert holding method. Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert seat and chipbreaker pocket for debris before seating the insert to ensure proper contact and repeatable tool height.
