The SECO 00016824 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning (MDT) insert designed for precision external and internal turning operations. Built to the LCMR160608-0600-FT style designation, it features a micrograin carbide substrate in the CP500 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating. The insert carries a 0.236-inch maximum cutting width, a 0.177-inch cutting height, and a 0.031-inch corner radius. It operates with a neutral hand orientation and an FT chipbreaker geometry. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers and operators of this insert.
This insert is intended for use in MDT series toolholders compatible with the LCMR insert style. It covers a broad range of workpiece material groups including hardened materials (H), cast iron (K), stainless steel (M), non-ferrous materials (N), steel (P), and heat-resistant superalloys (S). Typical applications include profiling, grooving-adjacent turning, and contour turning in both production and job-shop environments. Single-end geometry means the insert is indexed once before replacement.
Designed for use in MDT series toolholders accepting LCMR-style inserts with insert size code 160608. Confirm toolholder pocket specifications against the LCMR160608-0600-FT style designation before ordering.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the torque specification listed on the toolholder manufacturer documentation for the clamping screw — do not over-torque, as this can crack the carbide. Inspect the pocket seat for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
