The SECO 00016807 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning (MDT) insert designed for precision external turning, grooving, and profiling operations on CNC lathes. Manufactured from micrograin solid carbide in the CP500 grade, it carries a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating for heat resistance and extended tool life at the cutting edge. The insert follows the LCMR style geometry with a neutral hand orientation, a 0.157-inch maximum cutting width, a 0.177-inch cutting height, and a 0.079-inch corner radius. Chipbreaker designation is MP. Licensed machinists and CNC setup technicians are the primary installers of this tooling component.
This insert is suited for use in multi-directional turning toolholders accepting the LCMR1604M0-0400-MP style. The CP500 grade and PVD coating support application across a broad range of workpiece materials, including hardened steels (H), cast irons (K), stainless and general steels (M, P), non-ferrous materials (N), and heat-resistant superalloys (S). It is a single-end insert with a full radius profile, making it appropriate for profiling and radius-critical finishing passes in both production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use in MDT-series toolholders accepting the LCMR1604M0-0400-MP insert style. Compatible workpiece material codes include H, K, M, N, P, and S as defined by ISO material classification.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer torque and clamping specifications. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket seat for debris or damage before seating the new insert, as a compromised seat will accelerate edge failure. Do not use damaged or chipped inserts, as carbide fracture during cutting creates a safety hazard.
