The SECO 00016138 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the SECO MDT (Multi-Directional Turning) series, this insert features a micrograin solid carbide substrate with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating under the CP500 manufacturer grade. It carries a neutral hand orientation, an LCMF insert style, and an FT chipbreaker geometry. Maximum cutting width is 0.315 inches, cutting height is 0.219 inches, and corner radius is 0.031 inches. Machining professionals installing or replacing worn inserts in multi-directional turning toolholders will find this a direct fit.
This insert is suited for use across a broad range of workpiece materials including steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), non-ferrous metals (N), hardened materials (H), and superalloys (S), covering the primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, H, and S. Its double-end configuration and 7-degree relief angle support efficient chip evacuation and extended tool life in both roughing and finishing passes. Typical applications include shaft turning, groove profiling, and contour operations on production turning centers in industrial and manufacturing environments. This insert is sold individually per package with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for SECO MDT series multi-directional turning toolholders accepting LCMF-style inserts with the style designation LCMF300808-0800-FT.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a powered-down and locked-out state per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the insert to avoid clamp distortion. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before installing a new insert. Do not exceed the cutting parameters defined in the applicable toolholder and insert documentation for the workpiece material being machined.
