The SECO 00016137 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the TCGT style, designed for high-performance machining of non-ferrous metals. Manufactured to the TCGT110204F-AL ISO designation, this insert features a 60-degree triangular shape with a sharp cutting edge geometry and a positive rake angle, making it well suited for aluminum and other non-ferrous workpiece materials. The grade KX substrate and AL chip breaker design deliver clean, efficient chip control at the cutting interface. With a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius, this insert fits standard TCGT-style toolholders secured by a screw-clamp holding method.
This insert is intended for use in light to medium turning, boring, facing, and back turning operations on non-ferrous materials such as aluminum, copper, and brass alloys. The bright, uncoated finish maintains a sharp edge suited for the softer, gummier nature of non-ferrous metals where coated grades can cause built-up edge. It is applicable in both CNC and manual lathe setups across job shop and production environments. Material grades N15, N20, and N25 cover a broad range of non-ferrous cutting conditions from finishing to moderate roughing passes.
Designed for use in TCGT-style screw-clamp toolholders accepting a 1/4-inch inscribed circle triangular insert. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards with ISO code TCGT110204F-AL and industry standard number TCGT21.51F-AL. Compatible with material grades N15, N20, and N25 non-ferrous cutting applications.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using the appropriate Torx or hex key for the clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer. Power down the machine and ensure the spindle is fully stopped before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the toolholder seat and clamp screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 0.4173 inches as specified for this insert geometry.
