The SECO 00015778 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert designed for high-precision finishing and light machining of aluminum and non-ferrous metals. Identified by industry standard number CCGT431F-AL and ISO code CCGT120404F-AL, this insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake and positive side clearance. The sharp cutting edge and uncoated bright finish deliver the low friction and clean chip evacuation that non-ferrous machining demands. With a 1/2-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius, it is suited for fine finishing passes where surface quality is the priority. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the primary users.
This insert is applied in CNC turning, boring, and facing operations on aluminum, copper, brass, and other non-ferrous workpiece materials. The AL chip breaker geometry is optimized for material grade designations N15, N20, and N25, targeting high wear-resistance to moderate wear-resistance and toughness. It is a neutral-hand insert, making it usable in a broad range of toolholders. Typical applications include finishing passes on turned components where tight tolerances and smooth surface finish are required. The screw-type insert holding method is standard for this geometry class.
Designed for use in CCGT-style screw-clamp toolholders accepting a size 431 insert (ANSI) or 120404 insert (ISO). Conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards as noted in the product specifications. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert.
