The SECO 00015710 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert designed for high-performance finishing and light machining of aluminum and non-ferrous metals. It carries the ANSI insert code CCGT21.51 and ISO code CCGT060204F-AL. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a sharp cutting edge style, and a positive rake with positive side clearance for free-cutting action on non-ferrous workpiece materials. With a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius, this insert is sized for precision work in boring, facing, and turning operations. It is held in place by screw clamping and offers two cutting edges per insert.
This insert is intended for use in CNC turning centers, lathes, and boring applications where the primary workpiece material is aluminum or other non-ferrous metals (ISO material group N). The AL chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light machining passes, producing clean chip evacuation on soft, gummy, or high-conductivity materials. It is suited for both production shop environments and job shop applications where close tolerances and fine surface finishes are required on non-ferrous components. Material grades N15, N20, and N25 indicate its range from moderate to high wear-resistance applications.
Designed for use in CCGT-style screw-clamped toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Suitable for boring, facing, and turning applications on aluminum and non-ferrous metal workpieces. Maximum depth of cut is 0.2402 inches. Insert length is 0.2559 inches and insert thickness is 0.0937 inches (3/32 inch).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder torque specification provided by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
