The SECO 00015622 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the CCGT-AL series, designed for high-performance machining of non-ferrous metals. This insert carries the KX manufacturer grade and features an 80-degree diamond shape (insert shape code C) with a positive rake geometry and a sharp cutting edge. The inscribed circle measures 0.25 inches, the corner radius is 0.0079 inches (1/128 inch), and the insert thickness is 0.0937 inches (3/32 inch). With two cutting edges and an AL chip breaker, it is engineered for efficient chip control during light to moderate cuts in aluminum and similar non-ferrous materials.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on non-ferrous metals including aluminum alloys, copper, and brass. It is used in CNC turning centers and manual lathes where a screw-held, positive-rake insert is required. The uncoated bright finish preserves sharp edge integrity and reduces built-up edge when cutting soft, gummy materials. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with an ISO code of CCGT060202F-AL, making it compatible with standard CCGT-style toolholders used in production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use with CCGT-style screw-clamp toolholders compatible with the CCGT21.50.5 insert size code. Suitable for primary workpiece material code N (non-ferrous metals). Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standards for broad toolholder interchangeability.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or changing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key for the insert clamping screw to avoid stripping the screw or damaging the pocket seat. Inspect the toolholder pocket and shim for debris or damage before installing a fresh insert to ensure proper seating and runout control.
