The SECO 00015040 is a neutral-hand PROO-style indexable turning toolholder designed for external turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. It features a 1-inch shank width and 1.25-inch shank height, with a 6-inch overall length and a 1.5-inch head length. The toolholder accepts RCMM 43 inserts secured by a pin-lock holding method, delivering a 90-degree lead angle and 0-degree neutral rake angle. It is intended for use by machinists and tooling technicians working with a broad range of workpiece materials across production and job-shop turning environments.
This toolholder belongs to the SECO Multi-Directional Turning (MDT) series and is rated for universal workpiece material compatibility, including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, steel, and superalloys. The neutral cutting direction makes it suitable for both right-to-left and left-to-right tool paths without repositioning. Typical applications include facing, straight turning, and profiling on bar stock and chucked workpieces where consistent insert indexing and rigid clamping are required.
Designed for use with RCMM 43 indexable inserts with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, compatible insert size code RCMM43, within the SECO Multi-Directional Turning (MDT) series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the lathe is powered down before changing toolholders or indexing inserts. Secure the toolholder in the tool post or turret to the machine manufacturer's recommended clamping torque using appropriate fasteners. Follow the insert manufacturer's guidelines for proper seating and pin-lock engagement before resuming cutting operations.
