The SECO 00014999 is a solid carbide milling insert with ANSI/ISO designation XOMX180640R-M10, carrying manufacturer grade F40M. It features a parallelogram shape (XOMX style) with a positive rake angle of 21 degrees, a 15-degree relief angle, and a honed cutting edge. The insert is coated with TiAlN and TiN via a PVD process, delivering wear resistance across a wide range of machining applications. Two cutting edges are available per insert. It is designed for use in indexable milling cutters and is installed by machinists and tooling technicians in precision machining environments.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium in both rougher and finishing operations. The M10 chip breaker geometry is optimized for these material groups, providing controlled chip formation at a range of feed rates and depths. The right-hand orientation and screw-holding method make it compatible with standard indexable milling cutter bodies in the XOMX-18 series. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and general-purpose stock removal in production or job-shop environments.
Compatible with cutter series R217.69-18 and R220.69-18 as specified by the manufacturer. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standard designation XOMX180640R-M10 within the XOMX-18 series.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installing a new insert.
