The SECO 00014997 is a solid carbide milling insert with the ANSI and ISO designation XOMX180624R-M10, offered in manufacturer grade F40M. This right-hand, single-sided parallelogram insert features a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating over a fine-grain carbide substrate, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding milling operations. It carries a positive rake angle of 21.1 degrees, a 15-degree relief angle, and a honed cutting edge style. With two cutting edges and a maximum depth of cut of 0.6693 inches, it is suited for aggressive material removal rates in production milling environments. Licensed machinists and tooling technicians are the primary installers.
This insert is designed for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The M10 chip breaker geometry is optimized for a broad range of cutting conditions across these material groups, making it a versatile choice for job shops and production facilities running mixed-material schedules. It is compatible with the SECO cutter series R217.69-18 and R220.69-18, fitting the XOMX-18 series insert pocket. The screw-in holding method ensures positive clamping and repeatable edge positioning during indexing.
Compatible with SECO milling cutter series R217.69-18 and R220.69-18 within the XOMX-18 insert series. Insert conforms to ANSI and ISO designation XOMX180624R-M10.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the milling cutter body is fully removed from the spindle and the machine is locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer when seating the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert or damage the pocket seat. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping screw threads for debris or wear before installing a new insert.
