The SECO 00014949 is a solid carbide milling insert identified by ANSI and ISO code XOMX180604TR-ME13, manufactured in grade F40M with a fine-grain carbide substrate. It carries a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual-layer coating designed to extend tool life in demanding milling applications. The insert is parallelogram-shaped with a 90-degree included angle, a positive 25-degree rake angle, and a T-Land cutting edge style. It features 2 cutting edges, a 1/64-inch corner radius, and an ME13 chip breaker geometry. Thickness measures 0.252 inches and the inscribed circle diameter is 0.4409 inches. The insert is single-sided and right-hand oriented. Machinists and CNC tooling professionals install this insert in appropriate milling cutter bodies.
This insert is suited for milling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The F40M grade with PVD TiAlN and TiN coating performs well in both roughing and semi-finishing passes where chip control and edge toughness are priorities. The ME13 chip breaker geometry is optimized for positive-rake cutting in these material groups. The insert is held in the cutter body by screw-clamping and is compatible with cutter series R217.69-18 and R220.69-18. It is packaged individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.69-18 and R220.69-18. ANSI and ISO designation XOMX180604TR-ME13 applies to both coding standards per the supplier specification.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. De-energize and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the cutter body torque specification listed in the cutter body documentation — do not estimate torque by feel. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a fresh insert to ensure proper seating and runout.
