The SECO 00014858 is a round Polycrystalline Cubic Boron Nitride (PCBN) turning insert in the RNMN-Flat Top series, designed for high-performance single-point turning operations on CNC and conventional lathes. Carrying manufacturer grade CBN300P and coated with a multilayer PVD TiAlN and TiN finish, this insert delivers the edge hardness and thermal resistance required when cutting cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium at production tolerances. The 360-degree round shape provides 10 usable cutting edges, maximizing cost-per-edge value. Insert length is 0.3748 inches with an inscribed circle diameter of 0.3748 inches and a corner radius of 0.1874 inches. It is held by a clamp-style toolholder and carries a negative rake geometry with a chamfered and honed cutting edge style.
This insert is suited for facing, profiling, and turning applications in both production and job-shop environments. Primary workpiece material is cast iron (ISO material code K), with secondary suitability for super-alloys and titanium (ISO material code S). Applicable material grades are K01, K10, K20, and K30, covering a broad range of cast iron hardness classes. Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Verify coolant flow direction and depth-of-cut settings against the 0.0320 inch maximum depth of cut before initiating the first pass.
